Freezing Miracles! December 19, 2017

Well it's been a great week to say the least! I always get to emailing and I can't remember anything we did since last week, but I know it was good! Let's see... Our companionship is great! I am realizing more and more how much better I need to be at serving those around me continually. If I'm not looking for ways to serve or just doing the normal small simple acts of service, it's not enough. Just like any other principle of the gospel, to improve I must be seeking out ways to improve.
Miracles definitely happened this week- lots of them! So some of the highlights from this weekend- this freezing cold weekend (like 2*F cold)! A less-active father and son, that the Bishop has asked us to focus on, they came to Karen's missionary farewell party and then the father came to church for all three hours! Wow, greatest day of my life! So we've been seeing them every weekend for the past 8 or so weeks inviting them and the last month, month and a halfish, the father has told us that he would be there and then he hasn't. So we would go by Sunday evening and let him know that we missed him. And then yesterday- he came!! The past weeks when we would let him know that we missed him, he would look pretty sad and we could tell that he knew  that he needed to be there and that he missed it. Last night we went and visited him to share a miracle that had happened like 5 seconds earlier in the bitter cold at his apartment door (like our toes were numb and we had already been outside in 13*F weather for about 20-25 minutes). Well he opened up his door and invited us in like usual, but his wife and daughter weren't home again, so we stood outside and shared this miracle and before he even said hola we could already tell that the Spirit was with him. This hermano was beaming with joy, there wasn't that sad look about him at all and he was glowing with the Spirit again. Even though we had an amazing miracle to share with him, the greatest miracle last night was seeing this hermano feeling the true joy that only can come through the Spirit again.
The sacrament is vital in our progression and weekly improvement. As we come to partake of the bread and water that represent our Savior we can and will be spiritually renewed each week. Of course it's going to be difficult and take sacrifice. However, was not the most difficult event performed and the ultimate sacrifice given to us by our Savior, so that the consequences of our seemingly minimal struggles and sacrifices could be for our eternal joy and good? The atonement is real and powerful.
Now for the miracle that we shared with this hermano. We had tried to do a lightning visit in the same apartment complex but the hermana wasn't home. So we were walking along and we heard Hispanic music blasting from an apartment. We went and knocked on the door only to have a man named Jesus talk to us through the door in Spanish. He wouldn't even open his door, but told us to come back another time! So that was a super funny OYM... and we walked away. As we were walking away, we turned the corner and I thought I heard someone talking to us, so I awkwardly turned back around and asked the man who walked out his door to smoke a cigarette if he was talking to us. Well he wasn't but we went and continued talking to him anyways. He's not religious and was raised to believe whatever he wants and continues to think this way. It didn't seem like there was any potential with him right now, so we pulled out a Light the World card and started talking to him about it to share it and leave. We were about to leave when he said, "well, I tried a church once." So we talked with him for about 10 minutes more and had a great discussion through questions and testifying about God and how he cares about all of the little things in our lives, even finances or not getting enough sleep which he had mentioned he was struggling with. I shared a personal witness of a financial struggle that I had with scholarships and schooling and how Heavenly Father helped me then. We then asked if we could come back and share more and he accepted! We will be seeing him on Tuesday to pass him off to the OSU Elders and we are super stoked! Who knew he would be interested and that he would be willing to learn except for God? God works through imperfect servants and His work gets done when he wants it to.
Also, we went to the temple for Karen to receive her endowments which was amazing! I love her so much! She's a recent convert of just a few years and is leaving the 28th of this month for her mission in Florida! She is incredible and is just going to be the greatest missionary!
Well this upcoming week is going to be amazing also! As a heads up, my last p-day is switched to Christmas Eve this week since it would be a difficult proselyting day anyways. So I'll talk to you all on Saturday again! I love you all- have a beautiful (hopefully warm) week! (: Chao!
Con amor,
Hermana Nachelle Sharon Hunt (:
