Life in a Nutshell

Hi family! This past week has had a ton of miracles! One of the most exciting was meeting Joel. We got home from transfers and decided that we could go try some formers and potentials and not one of them was home. So we tried the last former that was on our list with the same results- they weren't home. As we were walking to our car to head to an appointment, we saw a man drive up into his driveway and although it was super awkward to stand on his driveway while we waited for him to park the car and get out, we did and were able to talk to this man named Joel! He has such a great understanding of prayer and how we really can gain a relationship with our Father in Heaven through it. He knows and LOVES the scriptures and allows Heavenly Father to guide and direct him through them. He's been humbled through life circumstances which has helped him to turn to God and gain these testimonies and has real intent in learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mount Scott (aka Hill Scott) last P-day's adventure. Hi you all! This week has been a lot of cancelled lessons with new investigators- it looks like we're about almost start completely fresh with a new slate of investigators. We are struggling to get in with teaching the new investigators we have found and set solid return appointments. We aren't able to get many members out with us either, so becoming a trio for these next couple weeks while most of our active members of our branch are out of town is a heaven-sent miracle! We are teaching a few Hispanics too, so having a strong Spanish speaking companion is also a huge blessing to Hermana St. Clair and myself! We are super stoked to become a trio for the short time we are able to and to learn as much as we can from Hermana Ryan! Oh, yeah, so this week is transfers!! And Hermana St. Clair and myself will be getting Hermana Ryan for the last two weeks of her mission! I kicked Hermana Ryan out of Weatherford when I...

Hats are now allowed! Holla!  President Mansell and Sister Mansell are here! We will be able to meet them tomorrow morning in Lawton! I'm super stoked about that! This morning I did have an amazing study on conversion. My question I was working with was "How does one become converted?" and the conclusion I came to is through true and honest application of the doctrine of Christ which allows one to be touched and worked on by the Holy Ghost. He will sanctify our hearts, meaning that he will change our hearts or our nature, to want to act and do as the Savior would. The Holy Ghost helps us to truly feel the doctrine of Christ changing our nature to put off the natural man and to overcome our weakness thereby allowing us to be more receptive of the Spirit and His guidance. Isn't it such a beautiful experience that our Heavenly Father has given us? It means it's going to be a lot of work, but it will allow us reap eternal and lasting rewards. We're celeb...

Wow, this for sure was the fastest week of my life! Each day was jammed packed with appointments, service, planning for a baptism and other things, etc! It was one of the hardest weeks of my mission for various reasons (one being my best friend got married and I couldn't be there, but it's okay!- Congratulations, Paige!), yet it was the best week of my mission! We had Specialized Training meeting on Monday in Lawton, Tuesday we literally went from appointment to appointment/service all day!, Wednesday was packed with appointments,  mormon.org  time, family history hour (our mission, and maybe all missions, has been given an hour of family history work each week to find our own names to take to the temple!) in which I found like 10 names to do work for- but like only 3 female names, language study with a non- member native hispanic (I haven't spoken with a native Spanish speaker in weeks!) and other appointments/meetings, Thursday was weekly planning and Veteran's meeti...

Hi you all!! So after a week where we weren't seeing a ton of visible success, last night we went out with a member for part of the time and just went out tracting/OYMing the rest of the time and we saw some incredible miracles! Right before our member joined us we met Ruthie! So Ruthie is here visiting her son (I believe) for a couple more weeks and guess where she's from?! Louisiana! <- That's where my Daddy served! And out of all places in Lousiana, Treeport! Haha well that made things easy to connect with her to get to know her and share the gospel with her. While we were talking she asked if Gladys Knight was a part of our church and we didn't know so she looked her up while explaining that she had seen her live with the 300 member choir that she leads (aka the Mormon Tabernacle Choir). So a funny side note, last Monday, we were at Wal-Mart buying our food and things and a man walks up behind me in line and puts his things next to mine on the counter to be paid for. I think he tried to do it without me knowing and when I looked behind me he thought I saw him, so he asked really quietly "Will you buy these for me?" and I said, "No, I can't." I didn't even know what he had put down until I was moving my things down to be paid for. He had set down a 6 pack of beer though and I wanted to tell him that the beer wouldn't do him any good and he was better off not even buying them either, but I didn't. He also had asked me if I was from Utah which I said I was, and he mentioned rather loudly that he had been to that huge Cathedral there in Salt Lake and we thought it was kind of funny.  The floods on the other side of the concrete barrier,  I felt bad for the people who were driving to Lawton  at that time, it was super backed up and y...
